If you enjoy learning about animals, head to the Woodland Park Zoo for a wild meet and greet. You'll get to know an animal ambassador for a unique 20-minute experience you won't soon forget. Here are a few of the animals you can ask to meet near our Redmond apartments:

Arctic Fox

Meet Hudson. He's a playful Arctic fox who loves squeaker toys and spending time with his keepers. Hudson's fur is white during the winter months and grayish the rest of the year.

Nine-banded Armadillo

The nine-banded armadillo is the only armadillo species in the United States. While these animals live in the Southern United States, a few have been found as far north as Illinois and Nebraska. Nine-banded armadillos have a keen sense of smell. They use it to search for nearly 500 different foods and feast on things like scorpions, beetles, and yellow jackets.

Red-tailed Hawk

The zoo is home to a red-tailed hawk named Gunnar. He was hit by a car and the loss of eyesight in his left eye means he can no longer live safely in the wild. However, Gunnar can still show off his natural raptor abilities. He "flies and catches stuffed squirrels on the ground," much to the delight of visitors.

Turkey Vulture

A turkey vulture, Modoc is the zoo's oldest raptor. He hatched in 1986, and after spending time in a rehab center, it was determined he was too imprinted on humans to live successfully in the wild. Modoc came to the zoo in 1989, and knows how to put items in the recycling bin.
