Not far from our Redmond apartments is a unique destination where "artists experiment with materials and ideas that expand their professional practices." We are talking about MadArt, and it's free to explore during all stages of exhibition development. Here are a few of the artists you might meet during your visit:

Nate Clark

Nate Clark is a fourth-generation Washingtonian who graduated from the University of Nevada with a BFA in photography and painting. He lives and works on Vashon Island and is also an adjunct faculty member at the University of Puget Sound. Nate's work is found in many permanent collections, including at the Nevada State College and Isle Royale National Park. He currently hosts open studio hours Tuesday through Friday between noon and 5:00 p.m.

Sara Jimenez

Sara Jimenez is a skilled artist hailing from Brooklyn, New York. She has been an artist in residence at different organizations, and her work recently became a part of the permanent collection at the Ford Foundation Center for Social Justice. Watch for Sara's exhibition at MadArt in January 2024.

Priscilla Dzul

A Tacoma-based artist from Yucatan, Mexico, Priscilla Dzul received her MFA in Sculpture from the State University of New York. She works in different craft mediums, and her creations have been exhibited both nationally and internationally. Priscilla's pieces will be a part of the Materialize exhibition, which will open in mid-October.

Before visiting, be sure and check which artist is hosting open studio hours. In addition, group-led artist tours are also available. Participants learn why the guide became an artist, why they work in a particular medium, and more.
