The Jerry Baker Memorial Velodrome, known as the “Gentle Giant,” is one of the longest cycling tracks in the country. The only velodrome in the state of Washington, it has been home to the US Master's Track National Championships as well as numerous amateur racers in the Northeast. What is Track Cycling?

Track cycling is a sport of speed and endurance that is performed on fixed gear bikes. The racers bike at blazing speeds around the velodrome (a slanted oval-shaped track), while participating in various events. The Jerry Baker Memorial Velodrome hosts events including scratch races, points races, individual sprints, team sprints, and much more!

Take a Class

The velodrome offers safe and immersive courses. Get comfortable on the concrete and take a discounted beginner night course for only $15. If it is your first time on the track you can even apply for 50% off a membership. If you are already an avid cycler, be sure to check out their race book for information on scheduling. All classes are from noon to 4 pm on Saturdays and Sundays during track season. To participate, you must either be fully vaccinated or have a recent negative PCR test, and masks are required.

Friday Night Racing

If you aren't the racing type and are looking for a fun evening out in Redmond, then look no further than Friday Night Racing. This incredible spectator event opens up the outdoor stands to friends, family, and fans. Come enjoy some delicious food from local food trucks, as well as beer from the Postdoc Brewery. The cost of admission is only $5 and the races start at 7 pm and end by 9:30 pm. Masks are required for spectators and social distancing will be enforced.
