Support These Redmond Area Nonprofits

The Pacific Northwest region of the United States has a rich history of philanthropy and civic activism. If you would like to get involved, there are many ways you can help your neighbors without leaving our apartments in Redmond. Here are three Redmond area nonprofits that would welcome your support.

All In WA

All In WA is a statewide relief effort designed to help workers and families during 2020's uncertain and ever-changing landscape. Heavily backed by Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, Redmond-headquartered Microsoft Corporation, and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the effort coordinates Washington nonprofits to help lay the groundwork for supporting the community in a thoughtful and intentional way.

The organization's main fundraising event was a locally televised and nationally streamed concert event that featured artists and celebrities who call Washington home, including Macklemore and Pearl Jam. The concert is available to stream from home now through Prime Video. You can also make direct donations to the organization through their website.

NAMI Eastside

With its main office in Redmond, NAMI Eastside is a volunteer-run nonprofit organization affiliated with the National Alliance on Mental Illness. At the local and national levels, NAMI is committed to raising awareness and support for mental illness by offering education, support groups, a resource library, and lobbying for improved public policies in the space of mental health. During this time of social distancing, NAMI is offering a variety of online classes and forums. You can learn more about getting involved to support these efforts here.

Food Lifeline

Food Lifeline distributes food throughout Western Washington via a network of 300 food banks, meal programs, and shelters. Beyond providing food, the organization works to address the root causes of hunger by raising community access to healthcare, financial resources, housing, and employment. You can support Food Lifeline and have a direct impact on your neighbors without leaving your home by making a donation to support one or more families. Learn more about donating here.
