We're talking about the Pike Place Market, and this nine-acre historic district dates back to 1907.

On opening day, the first farmer sold out of produce in just minutes.

Within a week, seventy wagons gathered to sell at the newly named Pike Place. Today, visitors find vendors such as:

Stewart's Meat Market 

Established during the Depression era, Stewart's is known for its tradition of quality meats sold at reasonable prices. Founder Emmett Stewart used to drive down country roads making deliveries in his Model-T. Today, the market is run by the family's fourth generation. The butchers will cut the meat any way you want, and choices include boneless stew beef, lamb shoulder steak, and chicken Hawaiian pineapple brats. 

Holmquist Hazelnut Orchards 

Holmquist is renowned for producing the freshest hazelnuts on the market. The Holmquist family planted their first filbert orchard in the 1920s and added the hazelnut orchard about fifty years later. The selection includes hazelnut butter, dry roasted hazelnuts, and milk Belgian chocolate hazelnuts.

Jon Robinson is a fourth generation photographer who grew up with darkrooms and the smell of processing chemicals. His father was a photographer for the Chicago Sun-Times, and he can't remember not having a camera in his hands. Jon's mission is to see the world, and he states that the best picture is yet to come. His stunning images include waterfalls, lighthouses, and wildlife. 

The market is open 363 days a year, and the vendors' hours vary.
