Waterfalls are one of nature's happy surprises, and people flock to them to see something larger than life. Thankfully, there are several impressive natural wonders within driving distance of our apartments in Redmond, WA. Here are three of the most beautiful waterfalls:
Just 15 miles south of Redmond, Coal Creek Falls is located along a natural trail in Cougar Mountain Regional Wildlife Park. If you follow Cave Hole Trail from Redtown Trail for roughly a mile, you’ll encounter the falls and a new footbridge that's perfect for viewing. The park is pet-friendly and the trail is relatively easygoing with one small stretch of gentle incline. However, the falls are best after a hard rain, meaning the trail also has the best chance of being muddy.
Snoqualmie Falls draws in 1.5 million visitors each year. It's considered one of Washington state's most iconic natural attractions, and it's located just 20 miles to the southwest of Redmond. A road trip can take less than 30 minutes, framed the whole way by towering pines. Free parking, free viewing areas, and double-decker observation decks are open 365 days a year. There's also a trail from the parking lot to a viewpoint at the falls that is wheelchair accessible. When you stop by the shop, be sure to grab some of the world-famous Snoqualmie Falls Lodge old-fashioned pancake mix.
Well-suited to adventure seekers, Explorer Falls is located 36 miles northeast of Redmond. While the trail to Woods Creek is nice and easy, a separate path leading up to the top of the falls is a great a challenge for more seasoned hikers. Visitors call it one of the best nature hikes in the area.
