From poetry to science fiction, local writing groups welcome writers of all genres and styles. Many meet online, and you can share your work from the comfort of your Redmond apartment. Here are three Redmond writing groups that are sure to get your ideas flowing.
Explore creative writing with Seattle Writes. Hosted by the Seattle Public Library, it provides exciting resources for every writer. Enjoy Write with Hugo House. Led by local writers, it's held on select Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Sessions usually begin with introductions and may include prompts to get your creativity flowing. If you can't make the meetings, enjoy the Seattle Writes Podcasts. They feature recordings of past events and tips from writing instructors.
The Seattle Writers Meetup Group helps writers grow and encourages others to share their stories. Members come from all backgrounds. In each lesson, you’ll focus on dialogue and character development and receive helpful feedback. The group currently meets online every Monday. Sessions start at 6:15 p.m., and both beginner and seasoned writers are welcome.
When science fiction writer Rennie Saunders wanted more support, Shut Up & Write! was born. Today, this international organization welcomes writers from 322 cities around the world. All genres and abilities are welcome. Writers can share their methods, success stories, and challenges. You can join the Snohomish County chapter and enjoy meetings from home for free.
Get Your Book Done offers opportunities for writers looking to get published. This group is currently hosting open mic nights over Zoom. Participants can read a five-minute piece from their latest project and the supportive group will provide helpful feedback. The meetings are free, and all forms of writing are welcome.
After enjoying one of these Redmond writing groups, kick back with a book set in Washington state. You can read a historical novel, a page-turning mystery, and more.
