A Washington fixture since 1963, the Seattle Opera offers a unique fusion of music and drama while creating life-enhancing experiences that draw our community together. It's one of the country's top opera companies and gains recognition worldwide for its productions and bringing the best talent to the stage. While the opera welcomes thousands of patrons annually, it also provides plenty of virtual fun. Here are some of the ways you can enjoy the opera from our Redmond apartments.
Every Saturday, fans can listen to past performances on classical King FM 98.1. The fun starts at 10:00 a.m., and runs through the fall. Upcoming shows include Othello, Anna Bolena, and Romeo & Juliet.
Head backstage to learn about the costumes, wig fittings, quick changes, and more. You'll also get to know the costume director, and meet performers such as internationally renowned soprano, Sondra Radvanovsky. Known for her vocally daring performances, Sondra's voice and dramatic acting ability is unmatched. She trained at the Metropolitan Opera in the late 1990s, and has since performed at every major opera house around the world.
Join members of the opera as they offer unforgettable performances. One of the highlights includes David McDade. An assistant conductor, he's a talented piano player who will entertain you with The House on the Hill, a Star Wars tribute, and much more. You can also enjoy the music of bassoonist Paul Rafanelli and members of the opera's Teen Vocal Studio during their final recital.
After enjoying the opera, head outside and explore Redmond's scenic trails. They range from easy to challenging, and you'll see wildlife, stunning mountain views, and much more.
